OUR HISTORY In the spring of 1926, Reverend G.W. Headen, then pastor of the Main Street Church of Christ, in Salem, Virginia, began holding services in some homes in the Forst Lewis community. In June of that year, they decided to hold an evangelistic meeting. A tent was secured and erected in the yard of Mr. T.M. Waldron. After the tent blew down several times, the meeting was continued in the woodshed of Mr. Waldron. There were approximately 35 people in attendance, including a Methodist minister, Reverend J.M. Humphries and his wife. |
